This Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) describes how Westaway LLC (“Westaway,” “we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses and discloses information through westaway.com, Ace, our intake forms, our consultations and our client dashboard (collectively, the “Westaway Site”). This Policy is part of, and is governed by, our Legal Notices and Terms of Use, available at westaway.com/terms (the “Terms”). Capitalized terms used but not defined in this Policy have the meanings given in the Terms.
If we represent you, your Engagement Letter and our duty of confidentiality govern how we handle your client information. If anything in this Policy conflicts with your Engagement Letter or the rules of professional conduct, your Engagement Letter and those rules control.
Information and documents you share with us in connection with a potential engagement, including through Ace, our intake forms and our consultations, and information you share with us as a client (together, “Confidential Information”), are treated as confidential, whether or not an engagement results. We use Confidential Information only to check for conflicts of interest, evaluate a potential engagement, prepare your quote, provide legal services, administer your engagement and improve Ace. We disclose Confidential Information only to service providers bound to keep it confidential (see Section 4) and otherwise only as the rules of professional conduct permit or require. We never sell Confidential Information, use it for marketing, or share it with advertisers or marketing partners.
2.1 Information You Give Us. We collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, company name and role; information about your company and your legal needs; documents you upload; your conversations with Ace; your communications with us; and billing contact details. When you pay us, you provide your payment information directly to Stripe, Inc. (“Stripe”). We do not receive or store full card or bank account numbers.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically. When you use the Westaway Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the pages that referred you, and the dates and times of your visits, using cookies and similar technologies. We use this information to operate, secure and improve the Westaway Site and to understand how it is used. We use Google Analytics for site analytics.
2.3 Calls and Consultations. We use AI note-taking tools on most consultations and calls to keep accurate records of our conversations, and we may also record calls for quality assurance and to train our team. You may ask us not to record or transcribe a call. Recordings, transcripts and notes are Confidential Information and are subject to the AI provider terms described in Section 4.
We use information to (a) respond to your inquiries, operate Ace, check for conflicts of interest, evaluate potential engagements and prepare quotes; (b) provide legal services and administer engagements, including billing; (c) operate, secure and improve the Westaway Site and Ace; (d) send you newsletters, updates and invitations you have requested or that relate to our services, using only your contact information and never your Confidential Information; and (e) comply with our legal and professional obligations and enforce the Terms.
We rely on service providers for website hosting, Ace and other AI tools, payment processing (Stripe), scheduling, e-signature, video conferencing, email, analytics and our client dashboard. Our service providers are bound by contract to use information only to provide their services to us and to keep it confidential. We use AI tools only under business or enterprise terms that prohibit the provider from training its models on your information and that limit the provider’s use and retention of that information to what is needed to provide the service, keep it secure and comply with law. We do not enter Confidential Information into consumer AI tools that train on user inputs, and we do not use your Confidential Information to train AI models.
We do not sell personal information. We disclose information only (a) to our service providers, as described in Section 4; (b) as required by law, court order or legal process, or as the rules of professional conduct permit or require; (c) to protect the rights, property or safety of Westaway, our clients or others, including to prevent fraud; (d) in connection with a merger, reorganization or transfer of our practice, subject to our professional obligations; and (e) with your consent or at your direction, such as to the other parties in your matter.

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information, including the AI provider terms described in Section 4. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure.
